Are All K-Cups the Same Size?
Things can get a bit confusing when you’re shopping for your new Keurig machine. There are countless different models with a number of unique features and different capacities, not to mention tons of colors to choose from.
During all your research you will probably start to wonder if all the machines accept the same K-cups and are they all the same size? The last thing you want to do is buy a machine that won’t work with the K-cups of your favorite brand of coffee!
Luckily, all K cups are the exact same size, whether it be for a regular coffee, tea or to fit their new range of “Keurig for iced coffee” range of machines.
The Simple Answer
Yes! All K-Cups Are the Same Size.
I have great news for you, all of the K-cup pods are the same size and they will work in all of the Keurig coffee makers that are made to use pods. Luckily for Keurig lovers, they are the leading instant coffee machines, so many coffee brands make pods that are designed for use with their machines. This makes your life so much easier when shopping for new coffee to use with your Keurig. As long as the pods are designed for use with a Keurig machine, they will work in any of the different models that they have to offer.
Popular brands that offer coffee pods that are meant to be used with Keurig machines include Starbucks, Green Mountain, Donut Shop, Newmann’s Own, Folgers, LavAzza, Dunkin’, and Community. On top of these favorites, new ones are popping up all the time. Plus there are always new advancements in K-cup pod technology, like the newer compostable style Keurig-compatible pods from brands like Glory Brew and San Francisco Bay Coffee.

K-Cup Standard Dimensions
The K-cup dimensions are standardized so that all brands can make their own pods that are Keurig compatible. K-cups measure 1.5 inches tall with a diameter of 2 inches. They taper down to 1.5 inches at the bottom, allowing them to sit snuggly in the machine. They are typically made of plastic, which Keurig has made recyclable since 2020. Inside the K-cup you’ll find the coffee grounds as well as their own little filter.
K-Cups Vs Pods
Some people get confused when shopping for K-cups because of all the terminology out there. Keurig calls their K-cups “pods,” but there are also other coffee pods. A traditional coffee pod is more like a teabag. It’s a pre-portioned serving of coffee inside a filter. Also known as soft pods, they are round and flat and meant to be used with specific coffee brewers.
Nowadays, what most people think of when they hear coffee pod is the Keurig K-cup pods. These are the single-use pods in plastic containers that we described above. On top of those, there are also a variety of other coffee pods designed for other machines such as Lavazza or Nespresso.
Keurig also makes reusable K-cup pods. With the reusable cups, you can make any type of coffee you want in your Keurig instead of only the brands that make prepackaged K-cups. This gives you a much larger selection of coffee than you would have otherwise. The reusable cup can be rinsed out and used over and over again, thus saving you money in the long run.
